SurePoint Ag Systems is proud to recognize two employees through its annual internal awards program for the 2025 year. These awards honor individuals who exemplify SurePoint’s Core Values, commitment to learning, and dedication to the company and their teammates.
This year’s recipients are Hummer Kastens, honored with the Spirit of SurePoint Award, and Justin Black, honored with the Learning Legacy Award, which continues to be presented in his memory.
Hummer Kastens Spirit of SurePoint Award
2025 Recipient: Hummer Kastens
The Hummer Kastens Spirit of SurePoint Award recognizes full-time employees who consistently embody SurePoint’s Core Values and demonstrate exceptional initiative by stepping beyond their regular responsibilities to support the company’s success.
This award is named in honor of Hummer Kastens, one of the earliest team members at SurePoint. Since joining the company, Hummer has continuously exceeded expectations through his strong sense of responsibility, willingness to help wherever needed, and commitment to doing what is right for the organization. Known for leading by example, Hummer is often the first to arrive and the last to leave, regularly taking initiative to ensure the SurePoint campus and operations run smoothly.
The Spirit of SurePoint Award celebrates employees who inspire others through their actions and consistently put the team and company first.
Eligibility: All full-time employees are eligible for this award. Nominations may be submitted to Human Resources throughout the year, and the recipient is selected through a company-wide employee vote at the end of the calendar year. The award includes a $1,000 bonus, a personal plaque, and name engraving on a permanent display at SurePoint.
Justin Black Learning Legacy Award
2025 Recipient: Justin Black (Posthumously Honored)
The Justin Black Learning Legacy Award was created to honor the life and impact of Justin Black, a respected SurePoint employee whose dedication to learning, growth, and servant leadership left a lasting mark on the organization.
Justin served as Site Production Supervisor of SurePoint Electronics from 2013 to 2016 and later as General Manager from 2016 to 2019. Originally from Pennsylvania, Justin grew up working on a dairy farm and joined SurePoint Electronics in 2012 as a Wire Harness Technician. Despite having limited computer experience at the time, he showed strong determination to understand every aspect of the business.
Through hard work, curiosity, and humility, Justin advanced to Lead Technician and eventually General Manager. He was known for asking thoughtful questions, building strong working relationships, and continuously improving his skill set. Justin exemplified servant leadership, never asking his team to do something he would not do himself, and consistently supporting those around him with patience and respect.
The Learning Legacy Award honors Justin’s commitment to personal growth, lifelong learning, and leading through example.
Eligibility: Each department may nominate one full-time employee annually. The recipient is selected by the SurePoint management team and receives a $1,000 bonus, a personal plaque, and name engraving on a permanent display at SurePoint.
